Meet the Locals: Wild Coast Collective
There’s something quietly powerful about seeing a local business grow in sync with the land it stands on — and that’s exactly what’s happening with Wild Coast Collective. Behind it is Dr. Kiri, a Raglan-based chiropractor and movement practitioner who brings a grounded, holistic approach to wellness — blending Māori wisdom, somatic work, and ocean energy into everything she creates.
Living and working from her home base in Rangitahi, Kiri has found the space and rhythm to grow her business in a way that feels connected — to nature, to the community, and to herself. Since taking on Wild Coast Yoga two years ago, she’s gently evolved the offering into something broader: Wild Coast Collective — a community-focused space for wāhine to connect, move, and find strength in both body and spirit.
We caught up with her to learn more about what it’s like running a business from the west coast, how the land shapes her work, and what’s next for this inspiring local venture.

What inspired the name Wild Coast Collective?
I actually bought Wild Coast Yoga about two years ago from two incredible local gals who originally started it.
I loved the essence of what they had created, it already had such a beautiful community feel and strong connection to the land and sea.
Since then, I’ve evolved it into Wild Coast Collective, weaving in my own background in movement, nervous system health, and Māori healing practices I’d also love to bring in the sense of community & connection.
“Wild” reflects the raw, healing power of the coast and the importance of reconnecting with nature.
“Collective” honours both the original roots of the brand and my vision of building a community, a space where wāhine feel strong, seen and supported.
“I wanted to inspire women to move their bodies and build their own inner resilience.”
— Kiri, Wild Coast Collective

How do the natural surroundings of Rangitahi and the wider Raglan area influence your work and creativity?
This land slows me down, in the best way.
I do some of my best thinking while walking with my dog, and I love how much open space and nature reserves there are in Rangitahi.
Have there been any standout moments or stories that make you feel proud of what you’ve created?
My long-term dream is to create a leadership retreat for young wāhine. I do see this happening. This would be grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā — a Māori health model based on the four pillars of wellbeing: whānau (family and social), tinana (physical), hinengaro (mental and emotional), and wairua (spiritual).
I’m also proud to have created a new product that encapsulates my active self and passion for the ocean — which will be dropping this summer.
What’s the most rewarding part of running a wellness-focused business in a small coastal community?
The ability to slow down amongst the fast-paced world of the online space.
Finally, what’s next for you and Wild Coast Collective? Any exciting offerings on the horizon?
We’re in a beautiful season of growth, expanding the activewear line, looking at more sustainable manufacturing options.
I’m also creating retreats that blend surfing, my knowledge of the body and nervous system through chiropractic work & Māori wisdom.
On a personal note, I’m stepping more into speaking and podcasting as part of Dr.Kiri to speak about trauma and how we can move beyond labels.

Kiri’s vision for Wild Coast Collective is rooted in something deeper than just movement — it’s about restoring connection: to the body, to nature, and to community. Whether she’s leading a class, walking her dog through Rangitahi’s reserves, or dreaming up retreats woven with Māori health models and ocean energy, her work reflects a life lived with intention.
We love seeing people bring their ideas to life here on the Peninsula, and it’s been especially rewarding to witness the support Kiri is receiving — not just from the Rangitahi community, but from the wider Raglan area too. With more people choosing to live and work from this corner of the coast, stories like hers are a reminder of what’s possible when lifestyle and purpose are closely aligned.
