Rangitahi 5km Loop Raglan
The Hut Run
A 5km loop around Rangitahi Peninsula.
There’s a new way to get out and explore Rangitahi. Starting and finishing at The Hut, The Hut Run is a 5km loop around the peninsula, taking in the roads, tracks and open spaces that make up the Rangitahi area.
It’s a relaxed, social walk or run, open to everyone. Whether you’re a regular runner, getting back into it, walking with the kids or simply keen to meet a few more people in the neighbourhood, it’s a good excuse to get outside and see a little more of Rangitahi.
The loop starts and finishes at The Hut, Rangitahi’s local café, making it easy to grab a coffee and catch up afterwards.

A run with a Rangitahi story
The Hut Run has been organised by Rangitahi resident and keen runner Campbell Forlong, whose own running story is closely tied to the peninsula.
In 2017, Campbell ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks. It was a year that changed his life and ultimately brought Campbell, his wife Lorraine and their family to Raglan.
Campbell first discovered Rangitahi while running to Raglan. He had been visiting the town since he was 15, first for fishing trips, then through work and family holidays. But in his late 40s, he decided to run there for the first time.
After several long-distance runs to Raglan, Campbell and Lorraine were invited to visit the new Rangitahi development. Two days later, Lorraine drove to Raglan while Campbell, naturally, ran.
They were shown across the old walking bridge and immediately fell for the view towards Karioi from what would become Lot 29. A week later, Lorraine drove back and Campbell ran again. This time, they bought the section.
Those runs became part of a remarkable year, with Campbell going on to complete a marathon every week for the rest of 2017. Read about these 52 marathons in his latest book here.
Now, he’s encouraging others to explore Rangitahi on foot.

Everyone is welcome
The Hut Run is not about how fast you can go or how many kilometres you usually run. It’s a chance to get outside, discover more of the peninsula, meet people in the neighbourhood and enjoy a relaxed run or walk together.
You can run the full 5km, walk the loop or simply come along and enjoy the atmosphere at The Hut afterwards.
